Blood Ledger The Minter's Rise

From the back cover

Angelo Ferraro takes his brother's place as the husband of Rosalia Castellano, eldest daughter of the most powerful Don on the Eastern Seaboard. While his brother Emilio chased loftier pursuits, Angelo spends a year crunching numbers, and the Castellano holdings overflow with gold and jade, their operations spanning the whole territory.

Then Emilio returns with nothing but a worn leather bag, kneels before Rosalia, and calls Angelo crude and unworthy. Rosalia grants him everything — the money, the staff, the land, every venture — and Angelo leaves Kingsport with severance papers, the laughingstock of the city.

Yet the franchise he needed is gone with Rosalia, and his gaze turns to another estate on the west side of Kingsport, where Elena Castellano, the sister he was first meant to marry, still waits. Meanwhile, the compound Emilio has remade in marble and refinement begins to grind to a halt, and a crowd gathers at the gates demanding their back pay.
