From the back cover

When an anonymous client places a 450-thousand-dollar appraisal order, the studio of Sera D'Angelo accepts without hesitation. The poster boasts online of stealing her fiancé from his girlfriend, slandering her and having her limbs crushed, then discarding her like garbage. Sera's assistant, Chiara Belmonte, urges her to decline, but Sera confirms the order anyway: the ex-girlfriend described in the post is herself.

The painting proves to be a counterfeit, the final work of Sera's father, Arturo D'Angelo, who replicated masterpieces for the Leone famiglia until a vengeful buyer murdered him. Federico Leone, the heir who once took Sera in, has long been her protector and her secret love. Yet the woman behind the order, Aria Bianco, has threaded herself into the Leone famiglia's world, and at a pier she takes a bullet meant for Federico, accusing Sera of luring her there to die.

Sera appraises paintings, not people, but the canvas before her carries her father's hand, and the woman who sent it wants far more than a valuation.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

My studio's website receives an appraisal order worth 450 thousand dollars all of a sudden.

The original poster of the order claims that this is a pre-wedding gift her fiance has gotten her.

The comment section goes wild instantly.

"If the appraisal fee alone is already 450 thousand dollars, does this mean the painting is worth 100 million dollars? Your husband really is generous to you!"

"I'm so envious of you! You really are lucky to be able to marry such a rich man!"
