After a fall during her pregnancy, Amelia Fiore wakes to find her unborn daughter gone. Her husband, Roberto Bertelli, the Don of the Bertelli family, and her six-year-old son, Nico Bertelli, visit only once, then leave for Martina Pelosi's opening night. A video from Martina shows Roberto cutting her steak and Nico happily eating the broccoli he once refused for Amelia, declaring that he hates her and that Martina is his favorite.

Discharged into a downpour, Amelia returns to the Villa Bertelli to find Martina wearing her silk nightgown and Nico mocking her. When Roberto berates her for giving Martina attitude, Amelia asks for a divorce. Martina stages a fall, and Roberto orders Amelia out. She leaves behind signed divorce papers, a document terminating her parental rights, and the ring that marked her as the Donna.

As the gates of the Villa Bertelli close behind her, Amelia tells the driver to take her to the airport, resolved to leave that cold, ruthless family behind for good.
