From the back cover

Joey Larson is a zookeeper, a wife and a mother. When her husband Zach Carter brings his pregnant first love, Zayla Scott, into their home, Joey's world unravels. Zayla pushes her down the stairs, then arranges for her to be thrown into the bear enclosure at the zoo, where the animals tear her apart. Only then does Zach remember she exists.

Now a ghost, Joey watches Zach dote on Zayla and their unborn child, while her own son, Eugene, calls Zayla "Mommy" and turns against her. Zach orders his assistant Peter Stewart to find Joey, threatening to dig up her mother's grave when she cannot be found. Joey's mother died saving Eugene from a truck, and Joey stayed for her son's sake.

Powerless, Joey can only watch as Zach desecrates her mother's grave and demands she return to apologize to Zayla. She screams at him, but her hands pass through him like mist.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

When she sees I survived, she hires someone to assault me and has me thrown into the bear enclosure at the zoo.

It's only after the bears tore me apart that my husband finally remembers I exist.

"All I did was refuse to take time off to pay my respects to your mother with you. How could you be so cruel, Joey?
