Final Breakup: No. 100

From the back cover

Thor Bentley and Aisha grew up as neighbours and childhood sweethearts, confessing their love at sixteen and becoming engaged at eighteen. Everyone called them a perfect match, and she believed she would grow old beside him.

In their final semester of high school, a transfer student named Lina Prescott arrives, and the homeroom teacher pairs her with Thor for tutoring. He begins staying late for her, bringing her breakfast, driving her along the coast, and giving her the shoes Aisha had handcrafted for him. Aisha threatens to leave again and again; each time he refuses to let her go, yet grows more indifferent. On Halloween, when he drapes his jacket over Lina and ignores Aisha, she says goodbye for the hundredth time—and means it.

She changes her university application and returns every gift, but the box comes back. When she goes to his house to end things, she finds him planting a tree with Lina, who wears the shoes meant only for the two of them.
