From the back cover

On Christmas break, Hannah Shaw is asked by her boyfriend, Trevor Hayes, to feed the dog kept by his childhood friend, Evelyn Summers. The pit bull mauls her, and Trevor blames her for the attack. Disfigured and abandoned, Hannah falls into despair and jumps from a rooftop. After dying, she sees Trevor holding Evelyn, who boasts that starving the dog was meant to kill her. Hannah wakes to find herself back on the day Trevor asks her to feed the dog, her scars gone. This time she refuses, then brings Trevor's mother, Lydia Barker, along to Evelyn's apartment, where a scream and furious barking ring out behind a closed door. Hannah stays in the stairwell and calls the police, determined to make the pair pay.
