Sarah is the top sales manager at her company, and she has just closed a massive deal. To celebrate, she treats herself to a nine-dollar manicure. But when she gets home, her husband Mark, his sister Tiffany and his mother Brenda turn on her, calling her wasteful and accusing her of neglecting the housework. Over the years, Sarah has covered every household expense while Mark earned barely over a thousand dollars a month, and she has funded Tiffany's designer bags and Brenda's gambling. Yet a nine-dollar manicure is enough for them to demand her debit card.

When Sarah refuses to hand it over, the fight escalates. Then her father calls in tears: her mother is hurt and needs the hospital. Brenda snatches the phone and blocks the doorway, and Mark and Tiffany corner Sarah at the building entrance while Brenda plays the victim for the neighbours. Sarah pushes past them and rushes to her parents, arriving just in time.

But the next morning, Mark brings a crowd of relatives to her parents' hospital room, demanding an explanation. Sarah steps in front of Brenda to shield her parents.
