Zoe discovers the lie at the nurses' station, where his laughing voice memo is being passed around as gossip. She goes home, bags up five years of wedding supplies and gifts, and signs the confirmation form for a two-year overseas medical aid mission, with departure in three days.

At the hospital the next morning, Byron brings her porridge she does not eat, and Stella arrives to slide her arm through his in front of everyone. Zoe calls her lawyer, James, and reads out bank statements showing money from their joint renovation fund spent on concert tickets, a luxury boutique and a hotel suite for Stella. The police are called, but the matter is treated as a civil property dispute.
