From the back cover
For five years, Stella chased Julian, the revered genius of the biology department, until he finally agreed to be hers. She put him on a pedestal, excused his coldness, and told herself she was the lucky one. He never met her parents, dismissed her friends, and called her flower shop childish. When she called him for a ride home one night, he hung up, changed the apartment code, and told her she reeked.
After four days of silence, Stella returned to apologize out of habit, only to find Julian with a new girlfriend, Chloe, and to hear that they had already broken up. The shock costs her her voice. Then comes the pre-wedding dinner their families had arranged, where Julian kneels before Grandma Helen to call off the wedding, and Chloe kneels too, insisting love follows no timeline.
Stella can only pick at her fingers and wheeze, while the man she loved for five years asks how she simply stopped loving him.
Inside the book Opening excerpt
He was this untouchable, revered genius, and I, a regular girl, had managed to snag him. I wanted to put him on a pedestal.
He never met my parents, looked down on my friends, and for the most part, simply dismissed everything about me.
My best friend, Harper, exasperated, chewed me out, "How can you act like you never get sad, never feel wronged?"
