From the back cover

Chloe has face blindness, so when her boyfriend Ethan sends his twin brother Lucas to take his place beside her, she says nothing. She knows them by scent and voice, and she has overheard Ethan promise a dying girl named Lily a complete romance before she dies. Her parents and the Miller family keep the secret too, certain Chloe cannot tell the difference.

Then, followed down a dark alley one night, Chloe calls Ethan for help. The car that arrives brings Lucas again, but this time she sees his face clearly: her face blindness is cured. She hides it, and quietly files the paperwork to transfer to the Seattle branch, seven days before she leaves.

As Lily moves into the villa and the family gathers for a portrait, Chloe keeps smiling beside the wrong brother, counting down the days until she goes.

Yet, when Lucas fed me cake, I opened my mouth.

When Lucas put his hand on my thigh at the movie theater, I didn’t flinch.
