Elena married into Loween City in her sister's place and spent five years as the Gambling King's wife. She swallows the pill, lets her "corpse" be thrown into the brambles, and crawls back to the Hartwell mansion on her knees. She signs away custody, hides in the storage closet, and endures Vivian trapping her in the basement. When Nathan finally carries her out, their son sneers that it is just a stunt; when Vivian's tears fall, Nathan drops her to the ground.
