At the family estate's annual memorial, Audrey's husband Preston and his brother's wife Mia slip away into the burial vault. Glowing text only she can see reveals their affair, and worse: her missing daughter Penny died long ago in an abandoned pigpen, and the family kept Audrey only to drain her accounts.

Audrey tells her mother-in-law Martha the vault looks unstable and should be filled at once. Relatives take up shovels, but Preston's half brother Declan blocks them, stalling for the priest. Audrey counters with a barbecue feast for the workers, then summons a backhoe. When Declan invents a buried chest of gold, Martha's superstition and greed collide, and a muffled thud rises from beneath the earth.

Audrey means to seal the grave and let the liars keep her daughter company.
