Nathan has spent three months of overtime on custom black calfskin wedding shoes, stamped inside with his name and his wedding date with Amelia. When the shoemaker calls, he rushes over despite a fever, only to find Amelia kneeling to tie those same shoes onto Seth, a friend whose old back injury she still carries guilt over. Seth posts a photo of the shoes online, and their friends assume he is the groom.
Amelia insists Seth is emotionally fragile and asks Nathan not to make things difficult, while the clerk reveals she confirmed the fit on Nathan's behalf. Nathan settles the balance, takes the shoes home and lists them for resale, cancelling the photoshoot and styling appointments. Amelia brings fever medicine and milk tea, but Seth's voice message interrupts, and Nathan lowers the price again, saying the shoes are dirty.
Listening to Amelia reassure Seth on the phone that the wedding is still on and that Nathan is easygoing, Nathan stands at the bedroom door, no longer willing to play his part in a one-man show called a wedding.
