Miranda McQueen forces her brother Evan onto an operating table so his kidney can be given to Lucas McQueen. She claims Evan owes Lucas for a past life, a lie she invented to make him atone for three years. Paralyzed but conscious, Evan hears Lucas admit the deception and endures the surgery in agony.

Afterward, Evan is dumped in a regular ward, unpaid and alone. A message from the hospital tells him his grandmother died at eight thirteen that night, after her medication was stopped for unpaid fees. Miranda had promised to pay for her care in exchange for the kidney.

Bleeding from his reopened wound, Evan staggers out to see his grandmother one last time and confronts Miranda and Lucas in the corridor.

My older sister, Miranda McQueen, forced me onto the operating table so she could give my kidney to the fake heir.

She pinned down my struggling hand, her expression cold.

"Evan, don't blame me for being cruel. In your past life, you pushed Lucas down the stairs and damaged his kidney. You regressed to make amends. You owe him this kidney."

For three years, I had tried to atone for the sins Miranda claimed I had committed in my past life.
