Love Melts as Snow

From the back cover

A tube of lipstick on the passenger seat of her husband Leo's car greets Vera with a memory she has lived before. In her past life, that discovery turned a wealthy wife into a madwoman: trackers, private investigators, hotel raids, a divorce that left her with forty-eight dollars, pancreatic cancer, and a death in the snow outside the home she had shared for seven years.

This time Vera calmly places the lipstick in the glove compartment. Leo explains it belongs to Jenna, his secretary and a family friend's daughter, and his anger rises when she does not fight. She tells him she believes him, then books a full physical with a top specialist. When Jenna floods her phone with photos, Vera offers photography tips and blocks her, keeping the title of Mrs. Vance and the supplementary credit card while leaving Leo's affection to Jenna.

Sleep still brings back the boy across the street, the candy she slipped into his backpack, and the alley they walked through countless seasons. All she wants now is to live.
