I dropped to my knees, begging them to spare my daughter’s life.
But Adrian just sneered.
"She's got luck on her side, anyway. What's the big deal if it makes Zoe feel better?" he said, his voice cold. "If Zoe's happy, she won't be giving me a hard time."
