Lina is a twin who was abandoned at five and spent sixteen years enduring abuse in a remote mountain village before her biological family finally found her. She believed she had escaped hell, but her new home proves just as cruel: her brother Bernard blames her when her twin Rachel breaks out in a rash from mangoes, forces mango juice down her throat, and locks her in the basement to starve.

As her throat swells shut, Lina begs for help, but Bernard orders the housekeeper Maria to give her nothing. Her parents only remember her days later, and even then they plan to buy her something to make up for it. Lina dies alone in the dark, her spirit tethered to her father, watching the family who let her suffocate.

Now a ghost, Lina follows them through the mall as they laugh and shop for Rachel, unable to touch them. She can only watch as Bernard hesitates before a toy store window, remembering the stuffed bunny he once gave her, while Rachel clings to his arm and claims his whole heart.
