A mother has spent years giving her daughter everything, only to be repaid with lies. As a child, the girl told her grandmother that her mother had pinched her; as a teenager, she skipped class and claimed her home was suffocating. When she took up with a local thug named Tyler, her mother followed her to a rooftop, died trying to save her from a fall, and watched her daughter film the body and cry out for the camera.

She wakes again in her daughter's senior year of high school, the very moment the girl holds a kitchen knife to her throat and threatens suicide to force consent to the relationship. This time, the mother packs the suitcase herself and tells her daughter she supports her freedom to love. The girl demands a monthly allowance and storms out, certain her mother is bluffing.

Left alone, the mother eats a steak, sees a movie, and lets the neighbors' judgment stand. But the apartment is wrecked, and waiting in the living room is Evelyn, the former best friend who has always spoiled the girl.
