From the back cover

On the eve of their engagement, Shawn Williams promises to help Sonia Zachman find a wedding dress, then abandons her at the bridal shop to buy pajamas for Britney Zigger, his junior at work. When Sonia calls, Britney answers and says Shawn is in the shower.

For four years, Britney has repeatedly pulled Shawn away whenever Sonia needed him, and Shawn has always defended Britney as a sister and told Sonia to stop being petty. Now, on the most important day of their relationship, Sonia tells Britney to pass along a message: the wedding is canceled.

Back home, Sonia packs her belongings and looks back on the betrayals she endured, including the miscarriage Shawn dismissed and the anniversaries he spent with Britney. When Shawn returns, he explains that Britney cannot sleep without the pajamas he buys her, and Britney arrives to scold Sonia for being unreasonable. Sonia notices matching love bites on their necks and understands everything.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

He still was not there by the time the bridal shop closed.

I received a text from him on my way home.

Shawn said: [Britney said she ran out of pajamas, so I'll accompany her to go shopping.]

I called him, but his junior answered the phone. "Shawn is taking a shower. I can pass along a message if you have something to tell him."

Shawn and I had been in a relationship for four years. Whenever I had something important to do, his junior would suddenly need his help with something trivial. He would always abandon me and rush to her side.
