From the back cover
Born into a family of pianists, Xu Ze is publicly accused of plagiarism by his own girlfriend, Bai Xin, on the eve of an awards ceremony. The work he supposedly stole belongs to Gu Jue, a poor genius who appeared out of nowhere and defeated him in a competition half a year ago. The public, eager for an underdog story, sides with Gu Jue and Bai Xin, believing Xu Ze used his family's wealth to suppress a talented rival.
On the red carpet, Bai Xin arrives on Gu Jue's arm and urges Xu Ze to apologize onstage. When he plays a demo of the song he wrote for her, she smashes his phone and claims he stole Gu Jue's sample. Gu Jue's fans and Bai Xin's words turn the crowd against him, and years of work are destroyed in an instant.
In the lounge, Bai Xin mocks Xu Ze and praises Gu Jue's diligence, leaving him to face the fallout alone.
Inside the book Opening excerpt
The red carpet was crowded with media, and the way they looked at me carried a hint of gossip and disdain.
Who could have imagined that I, born into a family of pianists, would be personally exposed by my girlfriend for plagiarism on the eve of an awards ceremony?
And the person I had supposedly plagiarized was Gu Jue, a poor genius boy who had appeared out of nowhere.
People always loved watching stories about underdogs rising to the top, so after the plagiarism scandal broke, everyone suspected me.
