From the back cover

Henry's mother returns his car after borrowing it for a month, and a routine inspection at his friend Tom Stepney's repair shop reveals the brake line has been cut. When Henry calls his mother, she admits she told his younger brother, Emmett Johnstone, to do it, calmly explaining that his accident insurance payout would cover Emmett's wedding gift. She even counts his pregnant wife, Noelle Weadon, and their unborn child as part of the potential payout.

Henry records the call and moves Noelle into a private maternity hospital, then freezes the family credit card and cancels the mortgage payments he had been making on a house deeded to Emmett. His in-laws, Mark Weadon and Fiona Gray, stand by him as he finally stops being his family's cash cow.

Emmett's furious call about a frozen card shows the entitled brother has no idea what is coming.
