Drifting into the banquet hall, Charlotte finds her sister Susan Bruno celebrating her coming-of-age dinner in a white dress beside Calvin, who announces he is transferring the operation rights of the Simmon family's three west-district casinos to Susan. Barry Bruno gifts Susan their father's custom Colt pistol. Then Susan pales, claiming Charlotte's birthday present was a packet of Heavenly Powder with a note in Charlotte's handwriting—a note Charlotte never wrote.

As the room erupts, Calvin says only that they should find Charlotte and ask her.
