Ivy asks only that he bring back someone she claims is her mother, though the person she truly wants restored is her late husband, Liam, who died two years ago on the very day she rescued Cole.

Cole grants her a jade token that opens the way to the Underworld, then departs in the night. The village gossips that Ivy has been deserted, and she quietly moves to Maplewood Village to avoid questions should Liam return. There she enters the Underworld and presents the token to an official, who grows suspicious and contacts Cole to confirm whether her request is granted.

Ivy has known all along who Cole was, and she saved him because he was useful. Now her secret wish hangs on a single answer from the heavens.
