Not Your Colorblind Cash Cow

From the back cover

Born with red-green color deficiency, Chaya grows up inside a house turned laboratory. Her mother replaces everyday objects with near-identical hues and films every mistake for a social media account, while her brother Tim and sister Lexi engineer the traps that make her choke, break out in hives, or weep on camera. When the channel explodes and brand deals follow, Chaya stops performing.

The breaking point arrives on her twentieth birthday, when three nearly identical cakes become another filmed humiliation. Chaya throws them away and declares that her life will be defined on her own terms. Her family answers with fury, guilt, and a glass of juice that is not juice. Alone on her bedroom floor, she messages her university advisor to accept a two-year exchange position in London.

A scholarship could fund her escape, but on the morning of her capstone defense, the tactile marks she relies on have been scraped smooth, and the color cards blur into one muddy wash before the department chair.
