At her wedding reception, Aurora realises the seat her groom Ethan has led her to is a trap: a crossbow rigged to the clock, set by his adopted sister Abby. Nine times she has lived this day to win Ethan's love, and nine times she has died in Abby's games. This time she moves, and the bolt tears her ear instead of killing her.
Abby shrieks that her plan is ruined; Ethan scolds Aurora for spoiling it, then admits he has always known she would die. When Aurora presses the bloodied bolt to Abby's cheek, Ethan snaps her wrist and Abby slashes her face. At the hospital he calls it childish mischief and promises another wedding.
As he pleads, Ethan recalls the first time Abby electrocuted Aurora and the day reset, revealing his memory was never wiped. Aurora begins to twist off her wedding ring, ready to set them both free.

This was the closest I’d ever come to succeeding, but the glint of fishing line on the grand clock’s hour hand told me everything. When the hand struck twelve, the taut line would trigger the crossbow hidden in a box below.

The warmth of Ethan’s hand on my shoulder felt sickening. I tried to pull away, but he leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear.
