On her birthday, Camilla waits in a car with her vampire fiancé Lucien and her brothers Jack and Xavier, ready to drive to a seaside manor for the party she prepared. Then Lucien arrives with Evelyn, the family's adopted sister, and her daughter Lily. There are not enough seats, and Lucien, Jack and Xavier all press Camilla to give up her place, promising Lucien will come back for her later. She steps out without arguing and watches them drive away.

Hours pass by the roadside. As a vampire, Camilla cannot bear the sun for long, and night brings cold in her thin dress. Lucien calls to tell her to keep waiting, yet Evelyn's posts show the party going on without her, her own cake fed to Lily, fireworks bursting overhead. When Lucien finally remembers her, the guests are already settling in at the manor, and Evelyn is claiming the room meant for Camilla.

Camilla has stopped waiting. The ring is gone, and the people who took her patience for granted are about to find her missing from their world.

On my birthday, my vampire fiancé Lucien brought his childhood sweetheart and her daughter along.

We had agreed to drive to the seaside manor to celebrate.

Suddenly there were two extra people, and the car was short one seat.

Lucien told me to get out and give up my seat for them.

“Evelyn has a child with her. Let them go first. I’ll come back for you later.”

My brothers also urged me to get out.

I didn’t argue like I used to. I simply got out calmly and watched them leave.

Two hours later, they arrived at the birthday party venue.

My birthday party began without me.
