From the back cover

For six years, Chloe has secretly loved her childhood friend Ethan, the boy she grew up beside. When Ethan falls for her roommate Vanessa, Chloe swallows her feelings and becomes his wingman, listening as he pours out his devotion to another girl. All she receives in return is his careless request that she never fall in love with him.

At a party, Ethan publicly confesses to Vanessa, whose smiling gaze sweeps over Chloe as she refuses men entangled with other girls. As eyes prick Chloe like needles, she raises a hand to show a promise ring and claims she has long had a boyfriend. That boyfriend is Liam, a campus celebrity whose lazy, fox-like charm hides a bond neither of them calls love.

Caught between Ethan's oblivious affection and Vanessa's condescending pity, Chloe keeps playing the loyal friend while wearing another man's jacket.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

In the sixth year of secretly loving my childhood friend, he fell for my roommate.

I acted as his wingman, listening to him pour out his love for her.

All I got in return was his casual remark: "Chloe, please don't ever fall in love with me."

At a party, he publicly confessed his feelings.

My roommate's gaze swept over me with a hint of a smile: "I don't date guys who are entangled with other girls."

Eyes from all around pricked me like needles.

Ethan anxiously tried to explain: "Chloe and I are just..."

I raised my hand, smiling as I showed off my promise ring.
