SeraKnight is a thousand miles away in Nashville on a solo consulting trip when her condo group chat erupts. A neighbor in the unit below, FinnMiller402, is furious about someone knocking on his window in the middle of the night and threatens to come upstairs. SeraKnight insists her apartment is empty and locked, yet the knocking continues.

A resident named Pierce602 posts a video of her balcony, where a human-sized, headless, handless effigy hangs from the central air draft, striking the glass in a steady rhythm. FinnMiller402 goes up with security and finds a body. The police are waiting when SeraKnight lands, and Detective Price makes her the prime suspect: the building's security system failed three days ago, and she is a security systems consultant.

With no colleague to vouch for her and only a hotel delivery robot as proof, SeraKnight must clear her name while the killer may still be among her neighbors.

I stared at my phone screen, utterly confused. I was a thousand miles away in Nashville, munching on some Nashville hot chicken. There wasn’t even a roach in my apartment, let alone a person. Who the hell was knocking?

Operating under the principle that there are no such things as ghosts, I told my neighbor to go take a look.

The resulting video they sent showed a massive, homemade effigy hanging from my balcony, swinging back and forth with the draft from the HVAC unit, repeatedly striking the glass.
