Seraphina's cover of her sister Selene's song went viral overnight, launching her into fame while Selene stayed in her shadow. Selene demanded designer clothes, sports cars and a penthouse, and when the actor Leo Vance humiliated her, she blamed Seraphina. On the night Seraphina was named Artist of the Year, Selene cut her throat and then took her own life.
Both sisters wake again in their freshman vocal class at the Kingswood Academy of the Arts. This time Selene rushes to the stage first and sings "Echoes of Time" herself, imitating Seraphina's style, and the secretly live-streamed performance makes her an overnight sensation. Selene warns Seraphina that she is now the star and Seraphina the forgotten sister.
Selene soon receives a contract offer from Olympus Records, the biggest label in the country, and mocks Seraphina as a nobody. Seraphina must decide how to live in a world where her sister has taken the song, the fame and the future that were once hers.

After I got my big break, I gave her everything she ever wanted.
Designer clothes, sports cars, a penthouse apartment.
But when a famous actor sneered that she’d never be as good as me, she started to hate me.
The night I was named "Artist of the Year," my sister stormed into my dressing room and drove a razor blade across my throat.
"If you hadn't stolen my song, you'd be nothing!" she screamed. "That award was supposed to be mine!"
After I bled out, she took her own life in despair.
