A broke college student named Chloe is told by a System that the billionaire heir Julian Sterling will destroy the world and that she must stop him. Taking the word "redemption" literally, she ties Julian to a chair in her shabby apartment and demands a two-thousand-dollar ransom, to the System's horror.
The System insists she must save Julian's soul with love, not money, while Julian calmly negotiates his release, raising his offer from twenty thousand to one hundred thousand dollars. Torn between her debts and the System's demands, Chloe refuses the money, slaps him, and clumsily tries to unbutton his shirt, only for Julian to break free and pin her down, demanding to know who sent her.
Their standoff ends when the police and reporters burst in, alerted by Julian's stepmother. Julian kisses Chloe's cheek and claims she is his girlfriend, and she plays along, even demanding payment for her broken door.

The System was emitting a high-pitched screech in my brain. I was annoyed. "Didn't you say 'save'? How am I supposed to save him without tying him up? How else is his family going to pay the ransom?"
The System was losing its mind. "Are you a college student or a felon?! I swear I'm going to call the cops on you! Chloe, haven't you read a romance novel? Redemption means saving his soul! Filling his heart with love! With sunshine!"
I paused for a moment. "You mean... you want me, a broke college student, to save the soul of a billionaire heir with assets worth hundreds of millions?
