The Lighthouse After the Last Glow

From the back cover

Anya, a decorated officer's orphan, has spent her life chasing the Medal of Valor her parents never received. At twenty-two she joined the major crimes unit, where she met Liam, a brilliant attorney who pursued her with devotion. For five years she believed she had found the man she would spend her life with.

On their fifth anniversary, Liam sent her to a secluded meeting place. He never came. Instead a masked man abducted her, and Anya learned the truth: Liam had a childhood sweetheart, the actress Monica Reed, who had been left in a coma by an obsessed kidnapper. Anya's face resembled Monica's, and Liam had used her as bait to lure the attacker out. She was tortured for seven hours before rescue, and her right hand was left permanently crippled, ending her field career and her dream.

Now a new undercover operation against a crime syndicate needs a third agent, and Anya volunteers, hiding her plan from Liam as she packs to leave him. Then his phone rings: Monica is awake.
