The Mermaid He Betrayed

From the back cover

Vesper is the purest-blooded elite mermaid: her tears become priceless pearls, and her heart's blood can raise the dead. When Ethan Hunt stood bankrupt and blood-soaked on the cross-sea bridge, she pulled him back, wept a bag of top-grade pearls to clear his debts, and kept him as her loyal dog. For six years she shielded him, sang for his investors, and waited for a soul contract he never gave her.

Then Ethan drained half her heart's blood to save Lyra, a low-grade koi mate with genetic defects — his first love. During Vesper's weakest scale-shedding period, he brought men in to violate her, and she saw the soul-binding mate contract on his collarbone, identical to Lyra's. Clutching a pregnancy report, Vesper tears it to pieces and calls Kyle, the capital's golden boy, offering him her pursuit on one condition: help her destroy someone. That night a bloody koi scale arrives, and Ethan kicks open her door with murderous intent.
