Will spends a Sunday playing hide-and-seek with his twin daughters, Anna and Lily. When his wife Sarah comes home, she insists they have only one daughter and that no child named Lily exists. Their family portrait shows only three people, and Lily's bunk has been cleared away, yet Will remembers his daughter clearly, down to the bandage she placed on his finger.

His parents back Sarah's account, and Anna, who is non-verbal, seems unable to confirm his memory. After a terrifying night in which Will wakes holding a kitchen knife, Sarah takes Anna and leaves for her parents' house, convinced he is dangerous.

Alone and doubting his own mind, Will must decide whether Lily is real or whether everyone around him is right about him.

It was Sunday, and I was playing hide-and-seek with my twin daughters.

My younger daughter, Anna, was hiding right behind the door, giggling. But my older daughter, Lily? I couldn't find her anywhere.

Just then, my wife came home. She saw me looking under the sofa and asked what I was doing.

"I'm looking for Lily," I said.

My wife’s face went blank. She looked at me with pure confusion.

"Honey, we only have one daughter."

I stared at my wife, Sarah, completely lost.
