From the back cover

Eve is engaged to Professor Adrian Hall, the youngest tenured professor at St. George's College, a man whose cold academic severity melts only for her. Her twin sister Selena, his most troublesome graduate student, is the one person he seems unable to forgive.

While preparing their wedding invitations, Eve opens a buried document on Adrian's tablet and finds hundreds of memos, and a video of him kneeling before Selena. At a family dinner to set the wedding date, Selena arrives late with a medical patch over her ankle tattoo, and a message on Adrian's knee reads: "The patch is on. Did Eve see it just now?"

Eve leaves the table, returns to their wedding home, and finds the scent of Adrian's cedar cologne scrubbed into the hem of her gown. Carrying it, she walks to the polar research center where he works, and waits for him to come out.
