Born with two hearts, Adrian existed only to keep his ailing brother Casper alive. Then he met Stella, married her, and believed he had finally escaped his family's conditional love. But when Casper's heart begins to fail, Stella becomes fixated on the idea that Adrian should donate one of his hearts to him.
Adrian insists he has only one heart left, that his other heart already beats inside Stella. She refuses to believe him, accusing him of faking the test results and bribing the lab. She signs the consent forms herself and forces him onto the operating table, deaf to his pleas.
At the hospital, everyone assumes Casper is Stella's husband, and she never corrects them. As the surgery proceeds, Adrian's desperate truth goes unheard.
