He earns $8,500 a month and gives every cent to charity, while the mortgage, car payments, his son Leo's tuition and his parents' medical bills fall entirely on his wife Elena. Her $2,800 salary cannot cover the household's $4,000 in monthly expenses, and debt keeps mounting.

When Elena asks him to keep a little of his pay for the family, David accuses her of controlling his finances. His parents, who live with them, call her selfish and say she is scheming for his money and ruining his reputation. Even five-year-old Leo turns on her.
