Zach has raised his and Susan's son alone, giving up his company so her career could thrive. Susan can speak to save a life, but only once a month. When their son is rushed to the ICU, she refuses to use that power, choosing instead to save the pet dog of Mark Stanley, the young man Zach once sponsored.

Their son dies. Susan spends the family's savings on Mark, deletes their son's photos, and slaps Zach when he protests. Her friends side with Mark, and she threatens to withhold her power again. Zach, who was born with a jinxed voice that twists fortune into disaster, has his mentor lift the seal on his power. He curses Susan to die painfully, as dark smoke gathers over her head.

What Susan does not know is how far a father will go to make her and Mark pay.

My wife Susan had the power to save lives, but when our son was rushed to the ICU and needed her help, she refused no matter how much I begged.

While I was crying myself hoarse when I received news that our son was dead, I heard her purring over the phone, "Mark? Don't worry, your puppy's way more important. Of course I'll save it."

There was a limit to her power that she could only use it once a month, but she nonchalantly used it for Mark's pet dog!
