Ethan's son Theo attends an elite bilingual preschool, where his carefully prepared meals are medically restricted and allergy-safe, made from specialty ingredients that cost far more than the ten dollars a day another parent, Mark Donovan, offers to have one packed for his daughter Mia. When Ethan refuses, Theo comes home crying: Mia took his lunch, and the teacher, Ms. Walker, scolded him for being selfish.

Ethan demands an apology in the parent chat, but Mark mocks him and turns other parents against him, while Ms. Walker sides with Mark. Refusing to let his son be punished for someone else's theft, Ethan calls his assistant to investigate the preschool's security footage and Mia's family, determined to settle the matter face-to-face.

The next morning he arrives at the director's office to expose what happened, while Theo slips back to the classroom for his sketchbook.
