At the college entrance exam, a student sees floating messages warning that the test paper is coated in deadly poison. She jerks her hand back, but the invigilator picks up the paper and returns it to her desk. The speakers announce that papers must be submitted within fifteen minutes, and anyone who fails is eliminated.

The messages reveal that she is Jessie Love, a supporting character in a novel. To secure a happy ending for the top scorer Rachel Sharp and Timothy Handler, the plot demands Jessie's death. Poison passes through the invigilator's hands, and a tracking device and surveillance cameras make escape impossible. Each time she dies, she is reborn at the exam's start, retaining the memory of the floating comments.

Now she must use what she has learned to survive the exam and defy the plot that wants her dead.

Just as I was about to take the test paper from the invigilator, a floating line of text suddenly drifted across my vision.

[Don't take it. The paper is coated with deadly poison. You'll die the moment you touch it.]

Before my mind could even process what was happening, pure survival instinct made my hand jerk back.

The paper slipped from my grasp and fell to the ground.

I stiffly met with the invigilator's lifeless, mechanical eyes. He stared at me without blinking, then slowly bent down, picked up the test paper, flipped it over, and placed it back on my desk.
