Chloe lies in a hospital bed while her mother casually explains that the fifty thousand dollars meant for her chemotherapy went to her brother Leo's house down payment. Leo needs a home to marry Vanessa, and the family has decided Chloe's treatment is a waste. Her mother even signs the refusal-of-treatment and self-discharge papers, telling her to rest at home instead.
