A young woman boards a first-class train home for the winter holidays, only to find an older woman, Mrs. Zola, settled in the seat she paid for. When she politely shows her booking, Mrs. Zola refuses to move, mocking her and demanding she take a second-class seat instead. The fare difference is over $100, and the young woman will not give up what she paid for.

As the confrontation escalates, Mrs. Zola grows louder, painting herself as a bullied old lady and turning the compartment against the young woman. The conductor checks the tickets and confirms that Mrs. Zola belongs in second class, but she refuses to leave, wailing and accusing everyone of ganging up on her. With the whole carriage watching and the train already moving, the young woman must decide how far she is willing to go to reclaim her seat.
