Leah Sterling is a gifted architect married to Tristan Cole, the cold CEO of the Cole Group. On the night of her biggest award ceremony, Tristan abandons her on the red carpet to rush to Vanessa Sullivan, his first love, who has just returned to the country. Leah keeps a private sketchbook in which she records every wound he inflicts because of Vanessa, starting from a hundred points; when they run out, she will leave.

Tristan then demands she sign over Moonlight Bay, the oceanfront wedding gift she has spent three years designing as their home, to Vanessa. When Leah refuses, he threatens to cut the funding keeping her late teacher's architectural studio alive, and orders her to design the villa herself to Vanessa's tastes. Each cruelty costs her more points, and her body and heart weaken.
