Qi Yanze has spent three years teaching in remote mountain villages, enduring harsh conditions and illness while believing his wife, Gu Lianyi, waits faithfully at home. When he returns, he finds her heavily pregnant with the child of Ye Siming, a man she claims once saved her life and who now says he is dying of liver cancer.
