From the back cover

Elara Silvercrest, bound to Kael Blackthorn by the Moon Goddess marriage bond, is taken as the court's Moon-Bound mate to unite the Silver Moon priesthood and the war-wolf clans. But to Kael she is only a vessel: when Seraphine Voss, the Wolf Queen, demands another child, Elara bears a silver-eyed daughter who is carried away before she can hold her. It is the second child she has lost to Moonlight Hall.

Yet Elara has learned that tears only show a hunter where the wound hurts. She hides a scrap of medicine-soaked cloth beneath the brazier ash, presses the moon-mark of the mother-child bond onto paper, and gathers the names of everyone present. Each cruelty becomes evidence, and the forbidden black-obsidian powder she finds in the snow tells her Seraphine is hiding more than a stolen child.

With the court stable and both her children inside the Wolf Keep, the time to act has come.

Inside the book Opening excerpt

Kael said it while unfastening my nightdress. "You bear easily. Carry one more for her."

Ten months later, I gave birth to a silver-eyed daughter.

The midwife cut the cord, wrapped her in black cloth steeped in scent-severing herb, and carried her from the room before I could look twice.

She was the second.

Everyone at court knew that Seraphine had destroyed her moon-vein saving Kael and could never bear an heir.
