To afford train tickets home for New Year's Eve, Via takes a part-time job and stumbles into a livestream where a young woman in a silk robe, Anya Carter, showers the chat with cash. Via taps fast, close to covering the tickets for herself and her boyfriend, Benjamin. Then Anya mocks a broke girl whose tear mole matches hers, and mentions a sponsor who tricked his girlfriend into 200,000 dollars of debt.

Via's boyfriend also owes 200,000 dollars. When Benjamin calls, claiming he hauled rebar for a little over 40 dollars, her blood runs cold. He comes home with a hot baked potato, then rushes out after Anya's stream hints her sponsor will run to her. A photo shows his abs in Via's own bathroom, and Anya wears the shirt Via stitched for him.

Via stands alone, grinding her fingertips, realizing his hands have no calluses. She stays awake until dawn, then goes to work like a corpse with its strings cut.
