A Love Lost, A Life Reborn

From the back cover

Lucas has made a quiet decision: he will join Professor Qin's pharmaceutical research institute abroad and test an amnesia drug, so he can forget his wife Sophia completely. He has already changed his name to Ethan and applied for new identification documents, planning to vanish from her world forever.

What Sophia does not know is that Lucas heard everything from the guest room next door — the intimate sounds of her with Henry, the college student Lucas has financially supported for four years and treated like a little brother. At breakfast, Sophia cares for Lucas while Henry sits beside her, and beneath the table Lucas sees Henry's foot caressing her leg. When Lucas asks whether a woman can love two men, Sophia insists true love allows no impurities and that she will only ever love him.

Lucas says that if he ever discovers she has deceived him, he will leave her and forget her forever. Sophia smiles and promises that day will never come.
