Tyler Stone has been dead for seven years when he suddenly returns home, bringing another woman, Ruth Watson, and demanding that his wife Aurora Lowe sign a divorce agreement so he can marry Ruth. He assumes Aurora still loves him and will obey, but she calmly tells him she has already married someone else.

Tyler refuses to believe her, mocking the idea that his uncle Skyler Stone could be Stone Group's CEO and Aurora's husband. The butler Nelson Brown insists it is true, and Aurora's young son Calvin Stone runs in, enraging Tyler, who accuses her of betrayal.

Aurora stands her ground as Tyler's disbelief and insults mount, and the household waits for Skyler to return.
