Coaxing Her Back

From the back cover

For seven years, Christine Lane has been devoted to Hansen Fullerton, even secretly buying a wedding dress to propose. But when she overhears him telling his friends he is bored of her and would not mind if they pursued her, she quietly makes up her mind to end things. At a gathering, Hansen brings a young woman named Mindy and publicly breaks up with Christine, offering to stay friends. She refuses, leaves cleanly, and returns home to cut up her custom wedding dress and leave her ring behind. She books an early flight to Harbor City to visit her best friend, Linda Moore.

Hansen's friends bet she will come crawling back within days, and he coldly predicts she will return in less than three days. But Christine stays away, and when Hansen finally calls, a man answers: Landon Shore, an old acquaintance who has taken an interest in her. Linda encourages Christine to start anew, and after a drunken reunion, Landon drives her home. What begins as a reckless invitation quickly turns into something far more consuming, leaving Hansen's certainty about her return in question.
