Arthur's six-year-old daughter Lily is dying and needs a donor heart. When the organ vanishes, he learns the truth: his wife Clara, the chief surgeon, has signed the heart over to the daughter of her ex-boyfriend, Julian. She is out of town caring for the girl, Chloe, and dismisses his frantic calls, insisting Lily can wait years while Chloe cannot.
