The System told me that my stepson, the one currently obsessed with eating dog-poop rice, would one day be a CEO worth hundreds of billions.
This CEO would be a philanthropist, and his companies would make significant contributions to society.
Yet, goodness wouldn't save him.
The CEO would develop health issues and be diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer.
The System’s investigation concluded that I, the stepmother, had caused the CEO's severe eating complex through childhood abuse, which led directly to his aggressive cancer diagnosis.
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes, pointing at the still-sobbing, bare-bottomed future CEO in the living room.
“So, are you telling me I should give in right now and feed him dog shit mixed with rice?”
【Uh…】 The internal static crackled even faster.
The System, skeptical but cautious, tentatively suggested: 【Why don't you try offering him a normal meal first?】
I immediately plated a bowl of perfectly nutritious food—mini chicken cutlets and steamed broccoli—and placed it in front of Brian, personally offering him a spoonful.
“Open up, sweetie.”
The little menace puckered his lips, stuck his index finger in his mouth, and mumbled, “No, wah! I want Shadow!”
My face tightened. I pulled his finger out of his mouth. He had actually been digging in the yard with that hand half an hour ago. It was filthy.
“Absolutely not!”
“Waaaah!”
Brian flailed, crying louder, refusing to even glance at the spoonful of food.
The System asked curiously: 【What is ‘Shadow’?】
I gestured to the corner where a large, floofy Husky was lounging.
“Shadow is the dog. But the kid means he wants Shadow’s feces.”
【He actually wants to eat it? Oh, dear God…】
The System audibly ‘vomited’ inside my head.
My expression darkened. “What are you doing? Did you just puke data all over my brain?”
【I merely purged some residual data, Host. Don’t worry, I immediately re-ingested it into my core memory banks.】
Now I felt nauseous.
I addressed the System: “Do you believe me now?”
“If you still doubt me, I can wait until Shadow goes to the bathroom, mix it into the rice, and you can watch him happily gobble it down.”
【No need, Host. I believe you.】
“Waaah! Waaah!”
Brian continued his dramatic, tearless wail. I fixed him with a cold stare. “Are you going to eat or not?”
“Mean lady!”
Brian burrowed his face into the sofa cushion, presenting his smooth, defiant butt toward me.
I automatically gave it a gentle, quick swat.
“I’m the mean lady, and you are the bad baby.”
Brian’s crying hitched.
I pressed on. “Bad baby. Brian Maxwell is a bad baby.”
“Waaaah! I am not! You are mean! I am a good baby!”
I snorted. “No, you’re not.”
“Only babies who eat the food I give them are good babies. If you don’t eat, you’re a bad baby.”
“Bad babies get their bottoms smacked.”
The little terror’s lips trembled. He reluctantly sat up. He slapped the sofa repeatedly with both hands, his small face fierce. “Eat! Eat!”
The System was dumbfounded.
Fighting back a smile, I held the spoonful of food to his mouth. “Good boy. Open wide.”
I slipped the bite in, then cajoled him. “One bite, just one more.”
The little cub tried to push the bowl away. “No more!”
“You have to finish this to turn back into a good baby. Otherwise, you stay a bad baby.”
A small child? I had this in the bag.
